WORKPLACE READINESS FOR STUDENTS PROGRAMS

Classroom experience cannot provide the totally comprehensive experience that students need to ideally prepare for a career in business and industry.  This initiative work-based learning experiences 

The programs in this initiative include:

Plant Tours Students attend on-site visits to area business and industry to increase awareness and prepare them for work-based learning experiences.
Workplace Readiness Students attend training sessions on application process, resume writing, interviewing skills, and developing a student portfolio prior to placement in a company.
Job
Shadowing
Students are placed in an area businesses to observe an employee and learn about a particular occupation.
Mentors Students, who are getting workplace experience, are assigned a mentor.  The mentor, who has the skills and knowledge to be mastered by a student, provides instruction to the student, critiques performance, and works in consultation with classroom teachers and the employer.
Internships Students work with an employer for a specified period of time to learn about a particular industry or occupation.
