Student Workforce Readiness Programs

The classroom cannot provide all of the experience that students should possess to prepare for a career in manufacturing or business.  The USMBC sponsors a range of programs for Upper Eastern Shore students to help them explore options and guide them in their career plans.  These programs include:

Plant Tours for Students – Students attend onsite visits at Upper Eastern Shore companies where they are exposed to the “real world” of manufacturing and business.

Workplace Readiness – Students attend training sessions on the job application process, resume writing and interviewing skills, and develop a student portfolio.

Job Shadowing – Students are placed in a business to observe employees and learn about a particular occupation

Internships – Students work with an employer for a specified period of time to learn about a particular industry or occupation.  This may also include the assignment of mentor who provides instruction, critiques performance, and works in consultation with the student’s classroom teacher.

For more information on workforce readiness programs, contact the USMBC office or call (410) 827-7744.
