Maryland TIME Center
(Technology & Innovation in Manufacturing & Engineering)
The USMBC partners with the Maryland TIME Center to develop educational programs that meet the technical and engineering needs of manufacturers and other business on Maryland’s Upper Eastern Shore. The focus is on developing a strong secondary and post-secondary curriculum in important program areas, including:
- Manufacturing and engineering technology
- Logistics and supply chain management
- Energy management
These technology courses are offered through five Maryland colleges including Chesapeake College, as well as select high schools in the region. Among the current course offerings are:
- Manufacturing technology courses
- Drafting and design technology (including CAD)
- Welding course
- Machine shop courses
- Safety courses
Technology WorkshopsIn addition to courses, the TIME Center and its partners offer education and training workshops on timely topics of interest. Among them are:
- Workplace Organization and the 5-S Process
- Introduction to Lean Enterprise
- Using Lean to Go Green
USMBC and TIME Center Collaboration
The USMBC collaborates closely with the Maryland TIME Center in developing a curriculum that matches the needs of employers in the Upper Shore region. USMBC executive director Jackie Potter serves on the board of the TIME Center.
