Human Resources Forum

Since its inception, the USMBC has cultivated a close working relationship with member companies' human resource professionals.  Monthly professional development sessions are held to provide ongoing professional development for human resources managers, supervisors and administrative personnel working in the five counties of Maryland’s Upper Eastern Shore region – Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot.

Meetings and Presentations

Monthly meetings are held on the campus of Chesapeake College, which is also home to the USMBC and the Upper Shore Workforce Investment Board, another organizational resource that works very closely with the USMBC.

Each meeting features a guest speaker or special topic, such as:

  • Employment law updates
  • Details on the Employee Free Choice Act
  • ADA amendments (Americans for Disability Act)
  • Healthcare reform issues
  • HR-oriented aspects of hiring independent contractors
  • Best practices in unemployment policies and procedures
  • EEO issues (equal employment opportunities), including EEO “mock trials”

For more information on USMBC Human Resource Forum and to tap into this highly useful and beneficial resource, contact the USMBC office or call (410) 827-7744 or 410-827-5851.
